Very loud touristy area with foreigners and people partying. Glad I had my ear plugs, because there is loud music playing next door and you can hear everything from shared spaces/bathrooms. Stayed in a private room and it was clean. Bathrooms pretty clean as well. Had interesting decor/kitchen/patio. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cute cat lives there! There is definitely more to Medellu00edn than the Poblado area, so we stayed downtown as well.
I stayed at Florentina for two weeks whilst I was studying Spanish at a local school and it was one of the best decisions I made when I visited Medellin. The hostel itself is very homely and the people that run it (namely Yessi and Esteban) were some of the nicest people I met whilst travelling South America.
I highly recommend staying here if you are lucky enough to be in Medellin!
The hostel has a vintage vibe which some may like, some may fine old & cold; we personally liked the authenticity of it. Unfortunately the staff let the place down. Our final night, the staff partied with other guests and after repeatedly telling them we had to get up at 5am. The super loud noise caused a bizarre argument. One staff became weirdly aggressive and was visibly shaking. After a positive start, I realise the staff donu2019t overly care about pleasing guests and give meek apologises.
I simply loved Florentina's hostel. Amazing taste design wise, the place is very is cozy and appealing because of the good taste that was employed. Very quiet even though it is in the heart of Poblado. We extended our stay with 3 more days. But we were lucky to have a 4 bunk-beds room just for ourselves. The kitchen is amazing! It also features an outdoors terrace where you can eat or work on your laptop or simply chillax. Coffee is on the house!
We'll be back here in 3 weeks!
Lovely room, great shower pressure and hot water too. Very safe area, right next to restaurants and bars (you will sometimes here music but that's standard in that part of town), 3 min walk from a jumbo supermarket and near everything you'll need.
Super friendly and helpful staff, great size kitchen, lovely common areas and the most comfortable bed.
We would definitely recommend this place. The rooms are squeaky clean, the staff is super friendly, speak good English and will help you with anything and for what you get (a nice bed in a comfy room) the price is really very cheap.
Note that this is NOT a party hostel, but it is right next door to a big party hostel (Patio). So expect noise untill around midnight, when the people from the other hostel leave for the city. Do not expect a backpackers atmosphere, just a clean, well looked after hostel in a superb location (close to the subway and a large supermarket).
Florentina is the perfect place to stay in Medellin- I stayed here for two weeks and felt totally at home. The staff are lovely and helpful. The hostel is beautiful and has everything a traveler needs (board games/ kitchen equipment etc). Staying here, youu2019re just five minutes from the bustle of the main tourist area, five minutes from Poblado station, and spoilt for choice for local cafes, bars and supermarkets. Despite being handy for all Poblado has to offer, the hostel is calm and relaxed.
I was happy with the staff and location of Florentina hostel, but will not be staying there again due to the fact that I got bed bugs/fleas from the facilities. During my three night stay, I woke up with with at least 20 bites from either bed bugs of fleas. I would like to commend the staff for responding well to this, as they quickly changed the sheets and wiped down the room. Additionally, they provided a slight discount upon leaving, which was much appreciated.
